What temperature should your child’s bedroom be?
As the seasons change, the temperature of your child’s bedroom will also change.
As your child may not be the best at being able to let you know if they’re too hot or cold, you’ll need to help them out here.
We don’t want the room to be too hot or too cold. Being hot or cold makes sleep a challenge, but sleeping in a room that’s too hot can be dangerous.
Try to keep your child’s bedroom between 68°F and 72°F (20°C and 22°C). I know that’s not always possible.
You want your child to feel comfortable, dress them accordingly.
This can feel tricky; what is accordingly? I get it! I always struggled with this. The best thing to do is dress your child as you would dress yourself.
Check and see if your child feels a little warm or cool. Check the temperature at the back of their neck or chest with your fingers (not when they’re cold, as everything will feel quite warm if your fingers are cold). If your child’s neck feels a little sweaty, they’re too warm, remove a layer. If they feel a little cool, you can add a layer.
