Do you need smoke detectors in your bedrooms?
You should have smoke detectors in your house, and if you’re anything like me, they will often get tested by your cooking!
I was always a little unsure as to if bedrooms should have smoke detectors. The noise they make when the battery gets low put me off putting a smoke alarm in bedrooms! Why does that always seem to happen in the middle of the night?
It is safest to have smoke detectors in bedrooms or just outside of the bedroom.
The way you can prevent being rudely disturbed by the chip of a smoke detector with a low battery is to change the batteries every six months. You should replace the battery even if your smoke detectors are connected to the mains.
If you replace the batteries when the clocks change (in the spring and autumn), you won’t get that annoying chip which wakes the entire house when the batteries get low.
