Sleep Tip: A Snack Before Bed
Some foods can induce sleep!
If you’re going to give your child a snack before bed, giving them sleep-inducing foods may help your child fall asleep and sleep for longer stretches.
SOME SLEEP INDUCING FOODS INCLUDE-
Bananas
Oatmeal/porridge
Peanut butter on whole wheat bread
Yogurt
Apple
Cereal
Tryptophan – Travels from the digestive system to the brain and changes to serotonin. Serotonin calms us down and makes us sleepy. Tryptophan can also help with melatonin production.
Magnesium – Makes it easier to fall asleep and improves sleep quality. It can also reduce restless leg syndrome symptoms
Potassium – Improves sleep quality.
Fibre – Help you get into a deeper sleep.
