Sleep Myth: White noise will always help your child sleep
I’m sure you’ve heard from many places that you must play white noise as it will help your child sleep.
White noise may help your newborn sleep, but as your child grows older, it may not be as effective as it once was. In fact, it may make it harder for them to sleep.
As your child’s hearing matures, the high pitch of white noise may become annoying. I know that I’m not too fond of the sound of white noise. When a sound is annoying, it’s not always the easiest thing to sleep through!
I prefer to listen to pink or brown noise. Both pink and brown noise are easier to listen to as the highest pitch has been removed. Brown noise is my favorite; it’s a deep rumbly sound that is much easier to listen to and sleep with.
