While I’ve been sceptical of smart bassinets in the past, my experience with Graco’s SmartSense Soothing Bassinet at the ABC Kids Expo changed my perspective. This innovative product stands out in the growing market of tech-enhanced baby gear.
One of the SmartSense bassinet’s key features is its ability to detect crying and respond with a series of soothing techniques. It has various white noise sounds, music, and movements to calm your baby. Once the bassinet has worked its magic and your little one quiets, it continues for 15 minutes before gradually tapering off, remaining ready to activate again if needed. This more gradual stop means your child is more likely to remain asleep and continue through their sleep cycle. No sudden stop that may wake them.
Versatility is a strong point. You can use the cry detection mode or manually select from 5 white noise options or five music tracks. The bassinet even allows you to connect your device and play custom audio – perfect for parents who want to use their own voice recordings.
The soothing mechanisms are comprehensive, offering rocking motions and gentle vibration, which can be used simultaneously. Importantly, the bassinet doesn’t require strapping the baby in, accommodating both swaddled and unswaddled babies up to around five months old.
Perhaps most impressive is the price point. At $400, it offers excellent value compared to other smart bassinets on the market. This combination of functionality, versatility, and affordability makes the Graco SmartSense Soothing Bassinet a standout product in its category.
I have not been compensated for this review. These are my genuine thoughts. Graco provided me with a bassinet to play with.
